Autumn Again

(Level – Medium Difficulty)

This a capella SAT song is a special Western Australian anthem to the long wait for rain after Summer.  The landscape in WA is desperately dry at the end of the season, and we feel wonderful relief when we finally see clouds banking on the horizon!  You will find a stirring chorus to sing here, and just a few challenging intervals in the alto part.  The final notes require attention and confidence; – let them fall like drops of rain!

LYRICS (C. Mayers)

When the sun heats the air,
Bows us down in the glare;
Watching the skies, blue in my eyes, waiting for signs of a change,
Watching the skies, blue in my eyes, where is the first sign of rain?
When the season is old,
Grasses lifeless and gold;
Season will change, life re-arranged, gardens will green,

Autumn again, waiting for rain, water will make our world new.
Autumn again, always the same, clouds will come out of the blue.

When the sun sweeps the land,
Leaving ashes and sand;
Watching the skies, blue in my eyes, waiting for signs of a change,
Watching the skies, blue in my eyes, where is the first sign of rain?
When the earth bares its bones,
Silver branches and stones;
Season will change, life re-arranged, gardens will green,

Autumn again, waiting for rain, water will make our world new.
Autumn again, waiting for rain, season’s kind promise comes true.

Clear,
Cold,
Rain,
Is -
Due.
