Dusky Pelty Dreams
(Level – Medium Difficulty)
Here is a Celtic folk-style song arranged for SAT a capella. The vocal lines are a little athletic, and the theme is a little earthy! It has never been performed yet, and it is waiting for an outing. I will supply a piano accompaniment on this website soon, for use if your choir would simply like to sing the melody in unison instead of tackling the harmonies. This would be a great song for a summer solstice festival performance!
After flat-fee payment and downloading you can make as many copies as you need for your choir.

LYRICS (C. Mayers)
In the forest green, I think that I have seen,
A fleet, red, faery child, - just behind a tree.
In the forest green, I think that I have seen,
A trickster, brushy tailed, - watching over me.
Since that lovely day when the forest bade me listen,
My heart walks in the glades between the sunny beams.
Since I came away I am more alive than ever,
And when I lay me down I have dusky, pelty dreams.
In the forest green, I think that I have seen,
A hero, soft and grey, - just behind a tree.
In the forest green, I think that I have seen,
A phantom, yellow eyed, - watching over me.
In the forest green, I think that I have seen,
A bristling, tusky knave, - just behind a tree.
In the forest green, I think that I have seen,
A twelve-sharp-pointed king, - watching over me.
In the forest green, I think that I have seen,
A tall, broad man of thorns, - just behind a tree.
In the forest green, I think that I have seen,
A woman of vines and leaves, - bending over me.
Since that lovely day when the forest bade me listen,
My heart walks in the glades between the sunny beams.
Since I came away I am more alive than ever,
And when I lay me down I have dusky, pelty dreams.
